Old Jones Home: Master Bedroom

Welcome to the master bedroom...

I was told by a previous owner that our current master bedroom was originally the master bedroom but was later used as a kitchen!  Crazy to think that our master bedroom was once the kitchen.  Here are some pictures that I have when it was a kitchen.  This is where the armoire currently sits...

The kitchen was removed by the previous owner and converted back into a bedroom.  It looked like this before we started the renovation...

Before

After

My parent's got this armoire from an antique store that used to be in Sunnyvale, Texas.  And they generously passed it along to us recently.  The master bedroom has small closets, so it is perfect for extra storage.  And the full length mirror is nice as well.

Love the antique detail of the armoire...

The opening on the left went to the "Laundry Room" which is now our Master Bathroom and the door in the middle of the picture went to what is now our Dining Room.

Before

We brought both walls out on either side of the fireplace to create his and her closets.  Obviously closing off access from the Master Bedroom to the Dining Room.

After

Another one of my favorite pieces in the house - this fireplace mantle!

Another bedroom favorite are the pair of ottomans at the foot of our bed.  I found them at an estate sale and had them recovered.  They are the dumping spot for our clothes - but I love them!

I would have thought this window bench was original to the house, because it fits perfectly under the windows.  But when one of the previous owners walked through the house with me she told me the story behind it.  She had bought it from an old house that was being torn down in Garland and thought that it would be a perfect fit for her kitchen - our Master Bedroom!

That is it for the master bedroom!  Thanks for taking a look!

The pictures of the master bedroom is just amazing. I just loved that moire from an antique store that used to be in Sunnyvale, Texas. The idea of master bedroom containing small closets, so it is perfect for extra storage. And the full length mirror is nice as well.

Making home modifications or expansions can be a stressful activity and there are many difficult decisions that need to be made. It is possible to simply leave the bulk of these bothersome tasks to home renovation professionals who can ascertain results that are beyond satisfactory.

  5. Your renovation project turned out really nice. I like the finished product. I also really liked seeing the old photographs when your bedroom was a kitchen. How neat! My husband and I just purchased an old fixer-upper. We are just getting ready to tear into it. I cannot wait to have a finished home like yours.
