Old Jones Home: Living Room

Welcome to the living room.  This room has been through the most changes since we have lived in this home.  At first it was Mathis' room, then it was Mercer's room and now it is the living room.  It is a great room - nice and big with a lot of windows!  6 large windows to be exact.  Let's take a look!

Before

We had to take the wood floors up and re-lay them.  The wood in the middle of the room was laid in a different direction than the surrounding wood.  The trim along the ceiling was removed.  Added recessed lighting, re-finished the wood floors, added window shades and painted everything.  We kept the original windows.

After

Our friends, The Mentzer's gave us this coffee table several years ago.  The wicker is great with kids and really like the "worn" look!  We had carpet cut and bound - it make a great rug for this room.

We have really enjoyed our Z Gallerie couch.  It is big and comfy and kid-friendly as well!

The wooden "R" is from Harp Design in Waco, Texas.  The vintage box is from Magnolia Market, the vintage books were left in the house when we bought it and the gold figurine is from Target.  I love the blend of vintage and modern.  I picked this "Mother-in-law's tongue" plant up from East Austin Succulents.  They said it was the easiest house plant to care for and so far so good!  It is still alive!

This bench holds toys and hides behind the couch.  It makes a great little play area for the kids.

This room does not have a closet so we keep this armoire in the room to serve as our closet.  It holds blankets, board games, etc.  This is my favorite piece that Charlie has fixed up.  I wish I had a before picture!  But just imagine the front was covered in vertical pieces of bamboo and the part that is now grey was red!  We painted the doors with chalkboard paint and added shelves inside.

Well that is it for the living room.  Hope you enjoyed seeing the transformation!

Old Jones Home: Master Bathroom

This is a fun one - welcome to the master bathroom!  This room or should I say roomsss got a drastic makeover.  When we bought the house it was two separate rooms.  The laundry room...

And on the other side of the laundry room wall was a bathroom...

We removed the wall in between the two rooms to make room for one master bathroom.  During the renovation process...

Where our vanity and sinks would eventually be.  This was prior to running new plumbing.

Wall that separates the two rooms is down and ready for new plumbing, etc!

Where our showers would eventually be.

The Before/Under Construction of this wall

The After

I love the character that this buffet adds to the bathroom.  We found it on Craigslist.  Painted it, had quartz counter tops and sinks installed and added new knobs.  My favorite part is that behind this drawer are shelves with plenty of plugs to keep my blow dryer, etc. plugged in!

We went white with the walls and dark with the trim and vanity.  It was fun changing it up!

Before of this area...

And After

We placed this half wall here which adds shelves for storage as well as hides the plumbing!  The wall being built and sweet baby Mathis helping out.

The claw foot tub was still in the house, but as you can see needed some love.  We had it resurfaced and painted the exterior grey.

Charlie stained one of the wooden planks that was on the wall to use as a tub tray.

I love the exposed pipe shower faucet.  A garden stool is a great alternative when you don't have room for a bench.

One of their favorite places to play in the house...

This is one of our favorite transformations.  Thanks for checking it out!

Old Jones Home: Master Bedroom

Welcome to the master bedroom...

I was told by a previous owner that our current master bedroom was originally the master bedroom but was later used as a kitchen!  Crazy to think that our master bedroom was once the kitchen.  Here are some pictures that I have when it was a kitchen.  This is where the armoire currently sits...

The kitchen was removed by the previous owner and converted back into a bedroom.  It looked like this before we started the renovation...

My parent's got this armoire from an antique store that used to be in Sunnyvale, Texas.  And they generously passed it along to us recently.  The master bedroom has small closets, so it is perfect for extra storage.  And the full length mirror is nice as well.

Love the antique detail of the armoire...

The opening on the left went to the "Laundry Room" which is now our Master Bathroom and the door in the middle of the picture went to what is now our Dining Room.

Before

We brought both walls out on either side of the fireplace to create his and her closets.  Obviously closing off access from the Master Bedroom to the Dining Room.

After

Another one of my favorite pieces in the house - this fireplace mantle!

Another bedroom favorite are the pair of ottomans at the foot of our bed.  I found them at an estate sale and had them recovered.  They are the dumping spot for our clothes - but I love them!

I would have thought this window bench was original to the house, because it fits perfectly under the windows.  But when one of the previous owners walked through the house with me she told me the story behind it.  She had bought it from an old house that was being torn down in Garland and thought that it would be a perfect fit for her kitchen - our Master Bedroom!

That is it for the master bedroom!  Thanks for taking a look!
